Thousands of COVID-19 cases in countries around the world, record number in Vietnam

Thousands of coronavirus infections[/B] have been recorded in countries around the world, with Vietnam setting a new negative record within 24 hours.

The Indonesian Ministry of Health announced on Monday that 36,501 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed in the previous 24 hours and 145 patients had succumbed due to complications of COVID-19. The death toll of the new coronavirus pandemic in the island nation reached 145,321 deaths out of a total of 4,844,279 infections. As of yesterday, 135.81 million Indonesian citizens had been fully vaccinated. The immunization campaign in the archipelago is targeting 208 million citizens, or about 80% of the population.

Vietnam's Ministry of Health announced on Monday that 29,413 SARS-CoV-2 infections were confirmed in the previous 24 hours, an unprecedented number, with the total number of recorded cases reaching 2,540,273. The deaths of 91 patients due to complications of COVID-19 increased the death toll of the new coronavirus pandemic in the Southeast Asian nation to 39,037. More than 186 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the country of about 98 million people, with some 32 million citizens having received a booster dose, always according to Health Ministry figures.

Brazil reported 58,540 new cases of coronavirus on Monday, while 473 patients died due to complications of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, according to Health Ministry figures. The Latin American country now has 27,538,503 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic, while the death toll from Covid-19 has risen to 638,835, according to the same source.

The Malaysian Health Ministry said Tuesday that in the 24 hours to midnight Monday, 24 patients succumbed due to complications of COVID-19 and 21,315 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed. The death toll from the pandemic of the new coronavirus in the Asian country of 33 million people has reached 32,149 deaths out of a total of 3,061,550 infections. The so-called active cases have increased to 168,447. There are 199 patients with COVID-19 in intensive care units (ICUs), 115 intubated. Mexico's Ministry of Health announced Monday that in the previous 24 hours 7,831 cases of SARS-CoV-2 were confirmed and 146 patients succumbed due to complications of COVID-19. Officially, the death toll from the pandemic of the new coronavirus in the nation of 126 million people has so far reached 312,965 deaths out of a total of 5,300,537 infections.



The Iranian Health Ministry said on Monday that 168 patients had succumbed to complications of COVID-19 and 28,956 cases of SARS-CoV-2 had been confirmed in the previous 24 hours as the country was hit by the so-called sixth wave, attributed to the more contagious Omicron variant. The toll of the new coronavirus pandemic in the Islamic Republic has reached 133,886 deaths out of a total of 6,835,221 infections since its outbreak on Iranian territory in February 2020. In intensive care units (ICUs) of Iranian hospitals, 3,410 patients with COVID-19 were hospitalized yesterday. A total of 54.85 million citizens had been fully immunized by yesterday and 21.47 million had received a booster dose of the vaccine, always according to Health Ministry figures.
