The man who, after 17 years of living together, murdered his wealthy stepfather and attempted to slaughter his own mother, was in the dock a few days ago His hatred could not be justified
A failed painter continued the feud started by his now dead father and murdered his mother's partner. A wealthy aristocrat, one of the richest people in Britain, with a fortune that, according to the 2020 Times list, exceeded £300 million.
Thomas Schreiber stabbed to death a few months ago 83-year-old Sir Richard Sutton, owner of a vast property empire, including hotels in London - he owned the Sheraton Grand Park Lane, the Athenaeum in Mayfair and three smaller hotels in London - as well as an extensive portfolio of 16 properties and farms.Shryber rampaged at Sir Sutton with a kitchen knife outside his room, stabbed him five times and left him for dead in a pool of blood. The 35-year-old also attempted to murder his mother, Anne Schreiber, stabbing her at least nine times in the neck and back. The murderous attack took place at the 'Moorhill' estate in the hamlet of Higher Langham near Gillingham, Dorset, owned by Sir Sutton, and resembled a 'war zone' scene after the killing spree on April 7 this year.
Life in a luxury mansion and bottomless hatred
Schreiberlived with the couple in the rent-free mansion after his mother's divorce many years ago from his alcoholic father David, a failed art dealer. However, he still hated them, holding them responsible for abandoning his father, who died in 2013.After his divorce from Anne, David Schreiber sent Thomas hate-filled letters describing his mother as a "traitor," The Times reported. Rose McCarthy, one of Thomas Schreiber's sisters commented:
"I think when you hear these accusations all the time and you get letters like that from your father, it fills you with hate. It was only natural that this toxicity would be passed on to my brother. Dad could be incredibly cruel. He said he was going to kill himself, he had an antique gun and often pulled it out and loaded it to see if there was a reaction. He would write suicide notes, which happened so often you couldn't take him seriously. Our life with our alcoholic father had been incredibly destructive on us."
[/P]By 2002, David Schreiber could not find a steady job because of his problem with alcoholism and Anne Schreiber cared for and supported the family. After Schreiber's separation from Anne, Sir Richard offered to move the whole family to his estate, but Anne told David that he could only join them if he gave up alcohol. Years after his father's death, Thomas lived with the couple on the vast country estate.
Mrs Schreiber, who is a physiotherapist - with a private practice in one of the most expensive areas and born in Denmark - has three grown-up children, including her near-murderer Thomas, who lived with them. Sir Richard made constant attempts to persuade him to leave his home.
Sir Richard's daughter Caroline Sutton revealed that her father gave Schreiber £100,000 as a deposit to buy a house in a desperate attempt to get him to leave. In November 2020, Sir Richard hit Schreiber in the back with a walking stick after a heated family argument over who would inherit a chandelier. This dispute isolated Schreiber from his family and was the turning point in his already difficult relationship with them.
Death planning and punishment
In the following period, Thomas began obsessively searching the Internet for articles about revenge and became consumed with hatred towards his mother and Sir Richard. He told his friends he was planning revenge and wanted to "do something spectacular" a few months before the murder.
In March 2021, he wrote to his best friend James Reid: "Simply put, I think about murdering them, I think about it day and night. It's not that I want to think about it, but it happens, it's the truth. I want them to suffer. I think and plan every day what is the best way to murder my mother and the other person... that's what my evil mind is consumed with."
He also told his friend Fedor: "In a nutshell, my mom is a promiscuous fucking bitch, she's selfish, manipulative, toxic."
We moved here 17 years ago, in this huge house, with her partner she's only with him to cook for him and take his money. He's a multi-millionaire, never had to work a day in his life, he inherited everything, all the property, all the land basically all over the world. He's an absolute prick. He is horribly racist, horribly backward, horribly old-fashioned, horribly English I have nothing good to say about him except that I can't stand him."
Schreiber's trial began a few days ago and the jury rejected Schreiber's objection to a reduced charge. Instead, they found him guilty of murder with intent to kill Sir Richard and the attempted murder of his mother.
