The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has reportedly warned European leaders that his life is under threat.
In a conference call last night, Ukraine's 44-year-old leader reportedly told EU leaders, who were meeting in an emergency session, "This may be the last time you see me alive" - according to a reporter for the Israeli media outlet Walla News, reported by Britain's SkyNews.

Earlier, the Ukrainian president's adviser had warned that Russia wants to kill Zelensky if he succeeds in taking Kiev.
It is worth noting that today, Friday, Vladimir Putin chose to address Ukrainian soldiers directly, calling on them to convince the "Nazi battalions," as he called them, to surrender. "Do not allow them to use your children as shields," he said.
"I would like to address the men of the Ukrainian army, do not let these nationalists use you, your women, your children, your elderly, use them as human shields," he said, among other things.
"It will be much easier to talk with you, to negotiate with you, than with this gang of Nazis that has taken over Kiev," he added."
