Members of the Police stopped around 8.40 last night for control, a car with two men aged 23 and 30 and a woman aged 32.
During the control, it was found that there was a large quantity of tobacco products inside the vehicle. The vehicle and its occupants were taken to the Nicosia Central Police Station for identification.
Officials of the Customs Department were summoned to the station where they inspected the tobacco products found in the vehicle of the above-mentioned persons and found that they were 43 kg of tobacco which were seized.
The above persons were arrested by a Customs Officer for the offence of possession of untaxed tobacco and settled out of court with the payment of a fine of €15,500.
The Customs Department is continuing investigations.
