A total of 155 people were vaccinated against coronavirus by 4pm, by the mobile vaccination unit that operated today from 10am in the Multipurpose Hall of Meneu Primary School. As Cyprus Andronikou, Mayor of Dromolaxia - Meneou, told CNA, "the mobile unit operated after consultation with the Ministry of Health, with the aim of increasing the vaccination coverage of the population against COVID-19. The mobile vaccination unit served the residents of the Municipality of Dromolaxia - Meneos and the communities of Tercefano, Kition and Pervolia".He added that "by 4 p.m., when the mobile unit closed, about 150 people had received the vaccine. However, this number would have been higher if the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and not only Moderna's vaccine had been made available at the mobile unit."He explained that "several people had gone to the place where the vaccinations were given but as soon as they were informed that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was not available, they left without being vaccinated."According to Mr. Andronicus, "people should have been informed of the fact that today only Moderna vaccines were available and not gone to the mobile unit, where they learned that there was no vaccine, of which they had already received the first two doses. I had personally been informed that there was a shortage for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and that vaccination with that formulation was by appointment only."In response to a question, the Mayor said that "the announcement for the vaccination of the public in the Municipality of Dromolaxia - Meneo and the three other communities should have been issued a week ago, not two days ago, in order to give the people time in front of them, so that more extensive information could be given and to give the public time to plan their visit to the mobile unit. The majority of those who were vaccinated were residents of Dromolaxia Meneu."He also added that "we have on file about 2.5 thousand residents who receive text messages on their mobile phones about Municipality activities and other events. Our citizens receive information about what is happening in the Municipality through Social Media, while those who do not have such media or do not follow the Internet receive a text message on their mobile phones."A total of 155 people were vaccinated against coronavirus in Meneu
Asked whether he was satisfied with the turnout of local residents for vaccination at the mobile unit, Andronikou replied in the negative, adding that "I was expecting a number of around 250 people."Asked whether there were other problems that prevented the public from coming, the mayor said that "there was no parking problem, access was easy without difficulty and without disturbing the residents of the area, there was no overcrowding, and the weather conditions were good."SourceA CNA
