They set fire to an entertainment centre in Paphos What the surveillance circuit recorded
A malicious act is prima facie attributed to the fire that broke out shortly before 07:00 this morning, in a nightclub in Kato Paphos after movements recorded by a closed circuit television, according to Michael Nicolaou, Press Officer of the Paphos Police Directorate and head of the Paphos Police Station, Michael Nicolaou.
According to Mr Nicolaou, the fire broke out at 06:45.
From preliminary examinations and from images recorded by closed circuit surveillance, he added, it appears that a person is seen approaching the building from the outside from the back side and subsequently channelling flammable material from pipes.
The fire caused extensive damage to the centre but has not been completely destroyed.
Members of Paphos CID and Paphos Assistant Police Commissioner Michael Ioannou have gone to the scene for further investigations. Various pieces of evidence were taken from the scene in order to identify the perpetrators.
Investigations by the Paphos Crime Investigation Department continue.
