In the arrest of 39 year old and 45 year old woman both residents of Paralimni, the Famagusta YKAN in connection with a case of possession of controlled drug class B, assault, resisting lawful arrest and obstructing a police officer in the lawful execution of his duties.
Specifically, yesterday, members of the Famagusta YKAN conducted a search of the home and vehicle of a 39 year old resident of Paralimni.
During the search the 39 year old assaulted a member of the YKAN while at the same time the 45 year old woman assaulted another member of the YKAN who assisted in the arrest of the 39 year old in order to prevent his arrest. During the search of both the home and the vehicle of the 39 year old a package of cannabis with a gross weight of 0.5 grams and a quantity of plant material with a total gross weight of 60 grams was found.
It should be noted that during the search of the 39 year old's vehicle, the intervention of a professional locksmith was required, since the 39 year old refused to cooperate. During the locksmith's attempt to open the mentioned vehicle, the 39-year-old and the 45-year-old woman attacked him, resulting in their re-arrest.
The case is being jointly investigated by the Famagusta YKAN and the Paralimni Police Station.
In relation to the offences within the jurisdiction of the Paralimni Police Station, the two suspects were charged in writing and released to be later summoned before the Court.
For the offences falling under the jurisdiction of the YKAN, the 39-year-old man was dismissed without charge pending laboratory tests on the evidence received.
