Making a dramatic shift in its policy, as its legal framework does not allow the sale of arms to crisis areas, the German government is sending to Ukraine, via Estonia, D-30 anti-tank howitzers from the arsenal of the "People's Army" of the former East Germany.
The weapons were originally sold to Finland in 1990 and are expected to be delivered "as soon as possible" to the Ukrainian armed forces.
In addition, the German government tonight announced the approval of the delivery of 400 anti-tank rocket launchers via the Netherlands, 14 armoured personnel carriers and 10.000 tons of ammunition via Poland.
Directly from the German armed forces another 1,000 anti-tank weapons and 500 Stinger missiles will be sent to Ukraine.
The Netherlands is also sending anti-tank weapons to Ukraine, as announced today by the country's Ministry of Defence.
The Dutch government will supply 50 Panzerfaust-3 anti-tank guns and 400 rockets, the ministry said in a letter to parliament.
The Netherlands is also considering jointly with Germany sending a Patriot anti-aircraft defence system to a NATO battle group in Slovakia, it added.
France
has decided to send more defensive military equipment and fuel to Ukraine to support it in its battle against an invasion by the Russian army, the Elysee presidential palace announced today.
During a defense council convened tonight at the presidential palace under Emmanuel Macron, "it was decided to deliver additional defense equipment to the Ukrainian authorities as well as fuel support," the presidency said without giving details.
On Tuesday 23/2, Latvia announced the shipment of anti-tank missiles to Ukraine.
On Friday 19/2 Estonia sent Javelin missiles, while on Saturday 13/2 Lithuania sent Stinger anti-aircraft missiles[/B] to Ukraine.
