"TA NEA" present the critical points of the forensic report on the deaths of the girls of Roula Pispirigou
The changes in the timing of the death of seven-month-old Iris, the "binding" first testimony of Roula Pispirigou for the death of 3.5-year-old Malena and critical points of the forensic conclusion, are some of the 10 new elements for the development of the case resulting from the latest phase of the investigation and presented by "TA NEA".
- The conclusion of forensic doctors Nikos Karakousis and Nikos Kalogreas, who through special methods (staining with reagents, DNA analysis and so on) that are not easily disputed, find that the death of 7-month-old Iris, in March 2021 in the family home, was caused by suffocation.
- The testimony of Dimitra Pispirigou, sister of the 33-year-old mother, during which she did not clearly identify (while in her interviews she spoke of an absence of one minute) the time when the defendant had approached Iris, at dawn on 21 March 2021. The sister of the 33-year-old, therefore, leaves open the possibility that the time Roula Pispirigou was away from her was six or seven minutes, time sufficient to kill the baby by suffocation.
- The testimonies of doctors and nurses that they had not seen and did not themselves cause the abrasions on Iris's face recorded in the findings of the two forensic doctors and identified as pre-mortem wounds in the attempt to kill her. The abrasions were not visible when the paramedics arrived because the child was already dead, bruised and it has been ruled out that they were made later.
- The conclusion of Karakoukis - Kalogria that attributes the death - in 2019 in "Elpis" - of Malena to suffocation. However, not with as clear evidence as those for Iris' death.[BR]
- The seven-eight doctors and nurses who tried to save Malena and subsequently testified did not report seeing abrasions on the girl's face, while there is also a testimony that this may have happened during the resuscitation attempt. However, the combination of the testimonies shows that even then the child was already dead, bruised and the abrasions would not have been visible.
- Roula Pispirigou's version that the wounds on Malena's face may have occurred during the resuscitation attempt or the placement of an oxygen mask "stumbles" in her 2019 testimony, when she turned against doctors, claiming that "there was no immediate CPR or resuscitation".
Doctor's statements
- The last part of the case file contains statements of the ICU doctor of "Aglaia Kyriakou" and a colleague who rushed to resuscitate Malena. The witnesses said that when they arrived they found, based on the hypotheses and other "signs", that the girl had been dead for about 20 minutes. Taking into account that it took them about 10 minutes to arrive and that the doctors of "Elpis" notified them immediately, it follows that the mother must have notified them 10 minutes late.
- Doctors and nurses of "Elpis" who testified in this case noted that they took steps to resuscitate the girl until the doctors of the ICU of "Aglaia Kyriakou" arrived.
- Coroner Christina Tsakonas, who had proceeded with the disputed initial opinion on Malena's death, recently testified that the red marks on her face are "around the time of death that occur when the deceased has undergone cardiopulmonary resuscitation." She concluded that "the similar finding in the right cheek is usually found in the placement of adhesive tape to help stabilize the tracheal tube to secure the airway in the context of resuscitation." However, the ICU doctor in charge is reported to have testified that when he went the child was already dead, however, he placed a tracheal tube and gastric tube. However, the restraint stickers could not have caused abrasions.
- From the recorded conversations of Roula Pispirigou and her husband with the child psychologist who undertook to analyze the drawings of Georgina, it appears that the delivery of the small cloth with Iris's blood was initiated by Manos Daskalakis and not by his wife, as was claimed until now. The mother's side, however, replies that "this is a sign that she did not want to hide anything and highlights her innocence". Moreover, it is established that there was a "rift" in the couple, due to an extramarital affair, not only in 2021 (i.e. the period when Iris died and Georgina suffered a heart attack), but also in 2018, before Malena's death.
