The war in Ukraine offers lessons for Cypriots, says UniteCyprusNow What it says in a statement
The bicommunal group UniteCyprusNow calls on all Cypriots to learn their own lessons from the Russian attack on Ukraine and do what they can to contribute to stability and peace in Cyprus and the region.
In a statement, the group said that the conflict that started in Ukraine after the Russian attack and the blatant violation of international law and the UN Charter, "should make us realize that the world is not a safe place and the risk of perpetuating a frozen conflict is too great."
Our humanitarian responsibility, it adds, "overrides the need to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the face of such an attack," but points out that Cypriots have much to learn from this crisis. The group also calls, among other things, for adherence to UN resolutions for a solution to the Cyprus problem based on the federal model and the equality of the two communities, and for the implementation of confidence-building measures at every level.
