The validity of the sickness certificate is reduced to 90 days as of Monday The decision of the Cabinet of Ministers
The decision taken by the Council of Ministers on 21 December 2021, according to which the period of validity of the sickness certificate is reduced from 180 to 90 days, comes into effect as of Monday, 31 January 2022.
As announced by the Ministry of Health, this change will apply to all holders of the Certificate, regardless of whether they have issued it before this date.
It is clarified that these certificates will continue to be issued through the www.eudcc.gov.cy platform and the date of commencement of validity of the certificate will be the date of release of the person. It will be valid for domestic use for up to 90 days from the date of the first positive laboratory test, as specified in the relevant decree.
It should be noted that the Certificate of Disease will continue to indicate a validity of 180 days from the date of the first positive laboratory test, which is the maximum period allowed by the relevant European Regulation and therefore can be used by citizens for travel purposes.
Note that in case of travel, the passenger should consult the Re-open EU website or app (reopen.europa.eu) or the national authorities of the country of arrival for information on the acceptable validity of the certificate, which is likely to be 180 days or less in other countries.
