The statement claims that the Greek Cypriot side has increased customs checks at the crossing point to prevent Greek Cypriots from shopping in the occupied territories.

"This political perception complicates the daily life of Turkish Cypriots, Greek Cypriots and foreigners and causes strong complaints. If the Greek Cypriot side makes the necessary arrangements, the traffic jam observed will end and there will be no need to seek other solutions in the area for the smooth passage of vehicles," the statement issued yesterday afternoon concludes.
