Referring to the decisions on enlargement accepted by the EU General Affairs Council and the references made to the enclosed town of Varosha and Turkey, the occupied territories' supporters claim that they are an indication that the European Union "prefers to act under the guidance of the Greek Cypriot side."
The illegal Bayrak station reported today, according to the Press and Information Office, that in a written statement, the "suplex" claims that "the European Union, which has an approach that ignores the existence and sovereignty of the other side on the island, openly supporting only one side under the pretext of 'member solidarity', is moving further and further away from the Turkish Cypriot people."
Arguing that "the erosion of trust experienced by the European Union, which has not fulfilled any of its promises to the Turkish Cypriot side since 2004, in the eyes of the Turkish Cypriot people is increasing day by day", the supra-tex states the following: "In the Enlargement Decisions adopted at the EU General Affairs Council, unacceptable expressions were used to thank the Greek Cypriot side. The rights of the Turkish Cypriot people in the Eastern Mediterranean are ignored in the decisions. It is significant that some of the members of the European Union allow the Greek Cypriot side to abuse its membership."
"The European Union, which tries to impose outdated models of solution on the Turkish Cypriot side despite the current reality, reveals that we are right in our concerns that it cannot be an impartial actor in the Cyprus problem."
