A statement from the House of Commons said that this is the first official visit of a Speaker of the House of Commons to Cyprus, a milestone in inter-parliamentary relations between Cyprus and the United Kingdom. Sir Lindsay Hoyle will be accompanied by senior officials of the House of Commons.

As he had said in an interview with CNA, the visit is an opportunity to reaffirm the strong Cyprus-UK friendship and mutual commitment to democratic values.
