[CYPRUS TIMES] "The sovereignty of the Greek islands is not disputed", Britain stresses

"We do not consider that the sovereignty of the Greek islands is being questioned. Greece and Turkey remain close friends and allies of the United Kingdom."

With this simple but clear statement by the British Foreign Office spokesman, the UK is also taking a pro-Greek stance on recent statements by Turkish diplomatic chief Melvut Cavusoglu.

In the statement, the British Foreign Office encourages both countries to continue working to resolve tensions in the Aegean through dialogue.
