A new statement against Marinos Sizopoulos by the Group of Initiative for Salvation of the Greek People's Party calls him "unrepentant and incorrigible", along with his followers

The Group of Initiative for Salvation and Reorganization of the EDEK in a statement "shoots" again at Marinos Sizopoulos and his "followers", as it calls them.

The following is the statement of the Salvation and Redevelopment Initiative Group of the EDEK:

"The court orders in force are strong evidence of the illegalities committed by Marinos Sizopoulos and his followers against the EDEK. Nevertheless, waiting for some time for the final court decisions on important issues gave them the opportunity and time to take steps to restore order and the democratic process in the party and to restore its unity. Not only have they failed to seize the opportunity but, unrepentant and incorrigible, they defiantly continue their divisive work.

On the occasion of the mobility in view of the formation of the Presidential Elections, they have come back to the forefront repeating the same falsehoods and fairy tales, both in the media and in the meagre meetings they convene to listen and formulate opinions. Sizopoulos repeats about the Membership Register of 2017 that he has replaced with the falsified register of 2021, about the misappropriation of party funds, about the rigged election procedures and the calumnies, about his self-declaration to the presidency or about any other maliciousness he claims.

The only new element that emerges is the role that he cunningly claims, under democratic cover, for himself in the process of shaping the Presidential Elections.

The only new element that emerges is the role that he cunningly claims, under democratic cover, for himself in the process of shaping the Presidential Elections.

The only new element that emerges is the role that he cunningly claims for himself in the process of shaping the Presidential Elections. This role belongs to the Party as a whole, which, in a coordinated and democratic manner, must exercise it by serving its ideology, principles and timeless positions. Anyone seeking to serve personal agendas or to pay off personal obligations of the past should have nothing to do with this role. Already, those who allegedly did not consult us before announcing their candidacy (Sizopoulos' statements are relevant) and even those who 'do not call us' before making their decisions have been arbitrarily excluded as candidates for the Presidency.

It is obvious that the EPP is not in a position to play the role it deserves as long as M. Sizopoulos and his followers refuse to make amends in order to restore the Party to normal functioning. If the genuine Membership Register is not restored, if a democratic and representative congress is not convened on the basis of it, and if real unity in the party is not achieved, the EPP will continue to collapse and the responsibility will be borne solely by Mr Sizopoulos and his followers. If they are unable to understand these simple things and respond to the needs of the times, they should resign."
