Quarantine 7 instead of 10 days with government decision What applies to cases and close contacts The decision is retroactive Read in detail

Reduction of quarantine to 7 days for covid-positive individuals, the government announced, while changes were also decided for close contacts.

"The steady and marked improvement in epidemiological indicators, the reduction in hospitalisations, the drop in the number of cases and the positivity rate, show that the pandemic containment measures we have implemented have worked. This allows us to keep our promise to relax the measures, based on the recommendations of the Scientific Advisory Committee," the Health Minister said in announcing the new relaxations.

According to Hatzipandela, the release from quarantine requires a negative test, rapid or pcr, which can be done either privately or through public laboratories.

The decisions to reduce quarantine, although taking effect from Tuesday 8 March, are retroactive.

That is, they also apply to people already on self-limitation.

Details of the Government's decision to reduce quarantine:

a) from 8 March as virus positive individuals may be released on day 7, provided they secure a negative test (Rapid or PCR). If the result is positive, the procedure may be repeated until negative, or until the 10th day of self-limitation. The decision has retroactive effect.

b) from 8 March 2022, such close contacts of a confirmed positive case who have not been isolated from the virus positive person (e.g. parents caring for a minor child, etc.) may, instead of remaining in self-containment for 10+7 days, be subjected to testing (Rapid or PCR) after release of the case on day 7, and if they secure a negative result, may be released. The decision has retroactive effect.
