Presidential candidate George Kolokasidis considers the proposal for a law submitted to Parliament to amend the law on political parties to prevent the judiciary from intervening when the rights of any party member are violated.
In a statement, Mr. Kolokasidis expresses the position that "party leaders will be able to violate their own statutes with impunity, they will even be able to expel any member who disturbs them, without any court being able to stop them."
But this is not democracy, it is the abolition of democracy, the presidential candidate says. With this change, the noose around the neck of our democracy is further tightened, he adds and believes that "as citizens, we must move, we must stop this downward slide of democracy."
