The Speaker of the Parliament Anita Demetriou discussed on Tuesday with a delegation of the Pancyprian Confederation of Federations of Associations of Parents' Associations of Primary Education Schools, the problems, faced by students in primary education, with particular reference to the impact of the pandemic on the psychology and performance of students and undertook to promote discussion of a number of issues in the relevant Parliamentary Committee, in order to exercise parliamentary control over the implementation of the relevant legislative framework and to promote appropriate amendments where necessary.

As announced by the Parliament, the meeting also discussed distance education, the education of pupils with an immigrant biography, dealing with the phenomenon of delinquency in schools, the extension of the institution of all-day schools and the evaluation of primary school pupils.

The President of the Parliament expressed full support for the work carried out by the Confederation, stressing that the proper education of pupils is a top priority for society as a whole.
