The President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades chaired today, at the Presidential Palace, a meeting on the security of the Energy Centre in the area of Vasilikos, as it is a project of the highest priority and strategic importance.
The meeting was attended by the Ministers of Transport, Communications and Works, Energy, Trade and Industry, Justice and Public Order, officials and representatives of communities in the area.
The President of the Republic was informed about all the issues arising from the creation of the Energy Centre in the area and gave clear instructions to speed up the completion of the works.
During the meeting, it was decided, among other things, that every fortnight a progress report of the pending projects will be prepared. For each sector a project manager will be appointed who will monitor the progress and adherence to the time schedules.
The President of the Republic stressed that methodical and collective cooperation will ensure the effective implementation of the decisions.
The representatives of the communities attending the meeting thanked the President of the Republic for his personal concern regarding the concerns raised following the fire at an industry in the area on January 11.
