The President of the Parliament discussed the modernization of the operation of the Broadcasting Authority
The modernization and improvement of the current legislative framework, concerning the operation of the Broadcasting Authority, were discussed today at a meeting between the President of the Parliament, Anita Demetriou, and the President and Vice President of the Authority, Rona Kasapi and Maria Kousiosiou, respectively.
As stated in an announcement of the Parliament, during the meeting an exchange of views took place on issues falling within the competence of the Authority and ways of assisting the Parliament in modernising and improving the current legislative framework were discussed. The aim is to make it more effective and compatible with modern times.
The President of the Parliament undertook, as added in the announcement, to implement actions jointly with the Authority and to prioritize the promotion and resolution of issues related to the audiovisual media sector, taking into account, among other things, the need to combat misinformation and the spread of false news on the internet and social media.
