The parents of the 3-year-old boy suffering from heart disease whose surgery in Germany was cancelled because of their vaccination history were finally persuaded to get vaccinated, as brought to light earlier by the Cyprus Times.

According to the Director of the Paediatric Clinic of the Makarios Hospital, Abraham Ilias, who, speaking to state radio this morning, said that yesterday the child's parents received the first dose of the vaccine. However, he noted, now a certain amount of time must pass before the medical center allows them to go there.


Following this development, the Ministry of Health is continuing actions to transfer the 3-year-old child abroad to receive treatment. This was reported by the Communication Advisor to the Health Minister Constantinos Athanasiou on state radio.

Meanwhile, the child continues to be treated at the Makarios Hospital in Nicosia with his condition described as stable.

Recall as reported in a previous Cyprus Times article, although all arrangements were made by the Ministry of Health to airair ambulance for surgery at the specialised centre yesterday, at the last minute the Germans informed the parents that the trip was postponed because they could not accept the parents as they had no vaccination history.
