Arrest of fugitive - Burglary of farmhouse and theft - Recovery of stolen vehicle and stolen property Cases are filed today against a 30-year-old man, who was arrested yesterday after his escape

Before the Nicosia District Court, for registration of a case against him, the 30-year-old, who was arrested yesterday after his escape from the police station detention centre in Nicosia, is expected to be brought before the court today.[/B]

The 30-year-old is charged with both the offence of escape from lawful custody and the offence of car theft, in which he allegedly escaped and drove to Famagusta district where he was arrested yesterday.


At the same time, a case of malicious damage and threats, a case for which the accused was initially arrested, is expected to be filed against the 30-year-old at the Famagusta District Court today.

The 30-year-old, who had escaped from the Nicosia Police Station detention centre on 11 January 2022, was located and arrested, yesterday afternoon in a rural area of Famagusta district.

His arrest was achieved after a Police operation in the village area of Famagusta district.

After evaluating information received by the Police, members of the Police conducted searches in the area in question, where they located the 30-year-old. At the time he was located, the 30-year-old was attempting to remove stickers from the doors of a vehicle, which did not have registration numbers.

As soon as the 30-year-old became aware of the presence of police officers, he fled on the run. He was pursued by the police officers, who intercepted him and arrested him.



Subsequent examinations revealed that the car the 30-year-old was looking at had been stolen from an area of Nicosia. The theft of the vehicle had been reported to the police on January 12, 2022.

During the search conducted in the vehicle, a large number of tools and electrical equipment were found. It was found that the tools and machinery in question were part of property stolen from a farmhouse, located in an area of Famagusta district, which was broken into between the dates of 12 and 13 January 2022.

The case of burglary and theft is being investigated by the Famagusta CID, which also investigated the cases of malicious damage and threats. The case of the escape and the theft of the vehicle was investigated by the Nicosia CID.
