Today the Ministry of Health announced an additional 1925 new cases of Covid19 disease from a total of 121,127 detection tests.
Based on today's data the positivity rate rose to 1.59%.
At the same time two more deaths were announced. They concern a woman, aged 79, who died on 27 December in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital[/b] and a man, aged 75, who died on 27 December in Famagusta General Hospital.
The picture in the hospitals
In total, 161 patients[/b] of COVID-19 are being treated in the hospitals of OCYPY, of which 78 are in serious condition or in NSAIDs.
Of the 78 patients in serious condition, 27 are intubated, 4 are in an Intensive Care Unit off ventilator and 47 in an Intensive Care Unit.

The map of positive rapid tests
Of the 121,127 diagnoses performed, 12,917 were performed by the molecular method (PCR) and 108,210 by the antigen rapid test method, 1925 cases of COVID-19 were identified, resulting in the following:
- 164 cases from 1,979 samples obtained through the contact tracing procedure of already confirmed cases.
- 44 cases out of 5,626 samples taken during passenger screening at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 388 cases out of 4,462 samples taken through private initiative.
- 13 cases out of 502 samples taken by the Microbiological Laboratories of General Hospitals.
- 926 cases from 80,407 specimens tested by the antigen rapid test method in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.[/b
[*]384 cases from 27,803 specimens tested by the antigen rapid test through the Ministry of Health programme.
[*]6 cases from 348 specimens obtained under the Personal Physician referral and special group screening program through the Public Health Clinics.
