The need to broaden and deepen cooperation between Cyprus and Saudi Arabia in order to achieve multilateralism, cooperation and conditions of security and stability for the states and peoples of the region, was noted during the separate contacts that Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides had in Riyadh, within the framework of the President's official visit to the country, which concluded yesterday.
According to today's announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the end of the President's official contacts, Mr. Kasoulides held separate meetings with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir.
The Foreign Minister's contacts focused, inter alia, on bilateral relations and the prospect of further deepening them in a wide range of areas such as the economy, trade and investment, developments in the Eastern Mediterranean region and the wider Middle East, the Cyprus issue and our side's proposals in the framework of the Confidence Building Measures, EU-Saudi relations, as well as other regional and international issues of common interest such as developments in Ukraine.
In addition, they reviewed developments in Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, and exchanged views on tackling terrorism, organised crime and violent extremism.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded that there is a need to broaden and deepen cooperation between Cyprus and Saudi Arabia in order to achieve multilateralism, cooperation and conditions of security and stability for the states and peoples of the region.
