Επιστολή-Reaction of Mayor of City of Chrysochous to the President of the Council of Europe Sees definitive closure of the hospital's inpatient wards - Warners warn of dynamic mobilizations

Letter to the President of the President of the Republic on the request of the Local Authorities of the Polis Chrysochous Department for the reopening of the inpatient wards of the Polis Chrysochous Hospital sent by the Mayor of Polis, Yiotis Papachristofis. In the letter he expresses the strong dissatisfaction and disappointment of the local authorities of the department over the results of a meeting at the Ministry of Health to discuss the local hospital.

The Ministry of Health and the OCYPY proceeded two years ago to suspend the operation of the wards due to the movement of nurses and doctors from Polis Hospital to staff the covid units of Paphos and Limassol Hospitals, the mayor of Polis recalls. Despite promises made at previous meetings to reopen the wards, it is apparent, it is stressed, that the intention of the OCYPY is the final closure of the wards. The proposal put forward, he continues, by the OCYPY is the creation of five day-care beds for patients, an arrangement that will be put into operation in the next month and depending on the results of the operation of the day-care beds, the way the wards will be operated will be re-evaluated at a later stage.

The Local Authorities insist on the immediate reopening of the wards, which in combination with the proper staffing and operation of the First Aid, Chemistry and Radiology Departments would have led to the provision of comprehensive medical care and treatment and therefore an increase in the occupancy of the wards, which, unfortunately, was not accepted.

The local authorities called on the President of the Republic to personally intervene to resolve the issue. Otherwise they warn with dynamic mobilizations.
