The Limassol Municipality's "Hippodamos" system is fully operational
The Limassol Municipality is the first municipality to fully implement the electronic receipt and issuance of planning permits and building permits through the "Hippodamos" system.
In a statement, the Limassol Municipality says that today it takes a step towards the completion of its actions for the transition to a smart city by adopting the electronic system "Hippodamos", the first of its kind operating in a municipality.
In recent years, it stresses, its main objective has been the adoption of new technologies in its operation and in its communication with the public, in order to modernize and operate more efficiently and at the same time serve the public better. Within the next three years, he adds, projects and actions are expected to be completed, with an estimated cost of more than 10 million euros, he adds.
It is also noted that the Limassol Municipality has already adopted technology functions in its services, such as the smart application "Citizen of Limassol" for direct communication between the citizen and the Municipality's services to solve problems, 3D tours of the cultural rooftops, the completion of 50% of the upgrade of street lighting to smart LED lighting technology, controlled by a central platform, and the adoption and use of electronic signature for the delivery of approved permits.
It is added that the computerized system of the Union of Municipalities "Evagoras" is currently being implemented, which will computerize most of the functions implemented by the Municipality, with the aim of holistically changing the procedures currently applied.
Actions for the development of smart controlled parking infrastructure and the upgrading of the internal infrastructure of the Municipality with new network infrastructure and new "Office 365" software are also in the tendering stage.
In addition, the development of the Geoinformatics Data System (GIS), training of staff for the use of the system and the digitization of the Municipality's data for integration into the new computer system "Evagoras" and the Geoinformatics Data System (GIS), within the framework of the Integrated Limassol Development (ILD), is under study and preparation for tendering.
