The Ministry's plan will correct abuses and problems in the General Health System What the Minister of Health said
The Minister of Health said before the OAI the Ministry's plan for ways to correct abuses, Michael Hadjipantelas, in a statement after his visit to the Health Centre in Latsia with the European Commissioner for Health, Stella Kyriakidou.
Asked about what was heard yesterday in the Parliamentary Control Committee about abuses in the GESY, but also about the unilateral decision of the Ministry of Finance to cut off funds in excess of €150 million, the Minister of Health reiterated that the problems concerning the GHS are the implementation of legislation and abuses.
With regard to the legislation, he said that consultations with the Attorney General have already taken place and an action plan has been reached.
On abuses, he said that there is a plan from the Ministry of Health, noting that at a meeting on Tuesday this plan will be put before the OAI Board of Directors.
He said that he would expect to listen carefully to the views of the OAI, in relation to ways of resolving these abuses, noting that they would proceed accordingly.
Referring to the GHS, he said that it is a new system and it is logical that there are problems, to add that it is up to them to protect it so as not to destroy it.
Asked to comment on what the OAI said, in relation to the operation of the system in the event that this fund is cut off, the Health Minister said that there is communication with the OAI and efforts will be made to resolve these problems.
