The EPP aims to upgrade the quality of security forces and support police officers on the front line, said its President Marinos Sizopoulos, who met today at the party's offices with the President of the Police Corps branch "Equality", Nikos Loizidis.
According to a statement issued by the C.C. EDEK, Nikos Loizidis said that Marinos Sizopoulos is aware of the enduring problems facing the security forces, adding that "we will be in constant communication and we will be able to find these solutions either through the Parliament or through other avenues so that we can make the members of the security forces, especially the front line, ready to keep the proper functioning of the state."
Sizopoulos said that the EPP "has as a firm goal the qualitative upgrading of the security forces and especially that special importance and weight be given to the members of the police force who are on the front line either to fight crime or to protect citizens."
The point, he said, is to create the conditions for the proper reform and upgrading of the security forces, but also to create the right conditions for the citizen to work in harmony with the police force.
"What we must all understand is that the security forces are not adversaries of the citizen. The security forces and citizens must collectively try to fight the battle for legitimacy, legality, the fight against crime and the protection of society against all these dangers that lurk today," the President of the EPP said.
