The Electric Bicycle Market Grant Scheme will be implemented from 17 January 2022
Implementing the Government's policy of transition to green transport and sustainable mobility, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works announces the opening of the application process for the Electric Vehicle Purchase Grant Scheme - Grant Category H14 (Assisted Cycling). Interested parties will be able to apply online via the Department of Road Transport website from Monday 17 January at 11am until 31 January 2022 at 10am. The total amount available for the first phase of the Scheme is €240,000.
The Project is fully funded by the European Union's Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The maximum sponsorship amount is €1,000 and the maximum purchase price of the electric bicycle, including VAT, must not exceed €6,000. It is stressed that electric bicycles sold at a price higher than €6,000 will not be eligible for a grant. Qualifying applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
Beneficiaries of the scheme are only natural persons. More information about the Scheme is available at www.ev.gov.cy on Design Guide (Category H14). It is clarified that the built-in battery in the bicycle frame, referred to in paragraph 3.10(c)(ii) of the Design Guide, may be of the "Built in" or "Fit in" type.
For the convenience of interested parties, set out below are (a) the screen with the fields they will be asked to complete, and (b) the contents of the drop-down menus for the Applicant Identification Category.
Since this Category only concerns a grant for the purchase of a new electric bicycle, only "H14 New electric bicycle (assisted cycling)" will be the default Grant Option.

[/P]Please note that applicants who are registered with a document not included in the above (e.g. passport, identity card of another state), must apply to the nearest District Office of the Road Transport Department for re-registration by presenting their passport or identity card of another state, foreigner's identity card, driver's license and vehicle registration documents.
The Scheme is part of the Ministry of Transport's General Policy Framework for the Promotion of the Use of Electronic Vehicles and the wider strategy to promote alternative modes of transport other than by car. The effort aims to reduce the environmental impact of transport and emissions of carbon dioxide and air pollutants.
The results of the first phase of the Plan will be evaluated and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works will consider including more categories of assisted cycling in similar Plans promoted in the future.
