The Cyprus United Arab Emirates Comprehensive Cooperation Strategy will focus on seven pillars as stated in the Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Comprehensive Cooperation Strategy[/B] (UAE) signed today, in Dubai.
Specifically, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will focus on the following pillars: Political Cooperation, Defence and Military Cooperation, Energy, Trade and Investment, Tourism and Culture, Education, Science and Technology, and Shipping and Maritime Transport.
As noted, through the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperation, the Republic of Cyprus and the UAE will further develop their cooperation in areas of mutual and strategic interest and build on the Agreements and Memoranda of Cooperation signed between the two countries since the establishment of their relations.
The Joint Declaration notes that the leaders of the two countries have appointed Ministers from both sides to oversee the implementation of the Comprehensive Cooperation Strategy to ensure full coordination and cooperation between the two sides in each pillar.
The Joint Declaration comes into force from the day of its signature.
Regarding political cooperation, the Joint Declaration states that the Republic of Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates have decided to enhance their political dialogue and strategic consultations and intensify their alliance on regional and international issues of mutual interest in order to further promote peace, security and stability in their regions.
Both sides underline the importance of holding regular political consultations and increasing the frequency of visits by officials of the two countries at all levels, recognizing that such visits serve and promote the objectives of their overall strategic partnership. It is also stated that both sides recognize the importance of facilitating the development of closer parliamentary ties by increasing the frequency of high-level visits and exchanges.
The chapter on Defence and Military Cooperation states that the Republic of Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates will work to promote military cooperation in the areas of training, education, training, exchange of experience, visits, conferences and related seminars.
On energy, it is stated that they will promote cooperation including through coordination on issues such as electricity grids, electricity markets, integration of renewable energy sources and energy conservation and efficiency. It further states that the two countries will explore investment opportunities related to the hydrocarbon and renewable energy sectors.
On trade and investment, the joint declaration states that the Republic of Cyprus and the United Arab Emirates are committed to further promote their economic relations in order to enhance bilateral trade and investment through a number of actions, including the exchange of information on trade and investment opportunities in both countries, the CNA
