The contract for the construction study of the School of Tourism of CTEPAK was signed
Just a few weeks after the signing of the Agreement with the CTEPAK, the Paphos Municipality on Friday proceeded with the signing of the contract for the design and supervision of the construction of the School of Tourism Management, Hospitality and Entrepreneurship of the Cyprus University of Technology on a piece of land granted by the Municipality for this purpose despite the Church of Panagia Pantanassa.
Speaking at the signing of the contract with the contractor company E. Papachristou Architects LLC, the Mayor of Paphos, Phaidonas Faidonos, stressed that for the first time the city and the province are acquiring a public University School "and indeed a School that will contribute to the upgrading of the hotel and tourism industry, which is the engine not only of the local economy but also of the economy of our country".
He noted that the Municipality of Paphos is looking forward to strict adherence to the time schedules, so that within the next March the plans will be ready in order to announce the tender and within June the construction works will start. The aim is to have the facilities ready by July 2023 for classes to start in September of the same year.
He said that the Municipality of Paphos is proceeding rapidly in the implementation of its objectives "to make Paphos an important centre of Higher Education of a regional character, with the operation in our city of the Schools of CTEPAK, the American University of Beirut, the Pafos Innovation Institute and the private Neapolis Pafos University" and described 2023 as a milestone year, as this is the year when all the new University Schools are expected to open in the city.
The project's architectural designer Hercules Papachristou noted that the project to be built will be a "landmark for the city" since, apart from its functionality and modern design concept, it will be characterized by architectural elegance and authenticity. He assured that the design will proceed normally and according to schedule.
The signing ceremony was also attended by a team of six architects and engineers from the American University of Beirut, accompanied by the Vice President of the Foundation and another Professor, which has been in Paphos since yesterday for an on-site study of the building complex of Haropomiles, in order to proceed immediately with the architectural and construction plans for hosting this University in the city.
The signing of the contract was also attended by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry George Mayes, the President of the local PASYXE Thanos Michaelides, the Director of the Pafos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company Nassos Hadjigeorgiou, Pafos Municipal Councillors, project stakeholders and relevant officials.
