779 Greek Cypriots and 201 Turkish Cypriots wanted, says T/C member of ICA 1,179 missing persons found out of 2.022

The Turkish Cypriot newspaper "Kipris" today refers to the statements of Hakki Muftouzadeh, the member of the Missing Persons' Committee (MMP) on behalf of the Turkish Cypriot side.

According to Mr. Muftouzadeh, since 2006 when the Committee started its work, 1,179 missing persons have been identified[/B] out of a total 2,022.

According to the CMP, Mr. Muftouzade said that 1,022 persons, 731 Greek Cypriots and 291 Turkish Cypriots, have been identified, adding that DNA analyses of persons not yet identified are ongoing. He also noted that 201 Turkish Cypriots and 779 Greek Cypriots are still being sought.

Stating that the CMP also faced problems due to the pandemic, he said that during the pandemic period 160 excavations were conducted and 38 missing persons were identified.
