The Castle Cabin, a dreamy retreat in a remote rainforest in the American Northwest, was unveiled by Jacob Witzling and Sarah Underwood, completing the Cabinland project.
The fairy-tale house consists of three interconnected red cedar structures covered in slate, which have conical roofs covered in moss and which feature triangular skylights a trademark of the Cabinland project.
"The Castle Cabin is our forever home and has been a haven for us," Witzling and Underwood wrote on their Instagram account (https:/www.instagram.com/p/CYJ7ADelWbB/).
A tribute to the remote rainforest is The Castle Cabin. Although no roads lead there, they largely built it with their own hands over 18 months. They cleared the clearing of litter and hand-carried building materials (https:/www.instagram.com/p/CUvAlGOJQbX/). And they made sure to document the process in the Cabinland project's video series.
They reserved special thanks for Jacob's father, Bix Hamby, who took our sketches and turned them into acceptable architectural drawings. They also acknowledged the help provided, Ethan Hamby, Jacob's brother, who spent an entire year living here and helping us; among many other things, he slated almost the entire structure (https:/www.instagram.com/p/CTDR1w-hxUn/).
Referring to what they are planning for the future, they commented: "We've already started working on more projects here in the rainforest as well as Cabinland 2.0 in the Southwest desert, and we can't wait to share everything with you!"
