Workers seeking excellent quality of life and low cost of living are flocking to Valencia, Spain, which has been named the ideal city to live and work in for those living away from home according to InterNations' Expat City Ranking 2022.
In the Expat City 2022 ranking of the top cities for those living and working abroad, after Valencia we find Dubai and Mexico City, cities that excel in terms of ease of settlement.
This is the conclusion of a survey of more than 12,000 respondents conducted by InterNations, an online expatriate community with more than 4.5 million global members. The analysis included 50 cities.

Valencia[/B] wins first place because it is "a safe place with an excellent climate, vibrant nightlife and culture, a pleasant urban environment and excellent travel opportunities", while still being "quite affordable", comments InterNations founder Malte Zeeck.It is very easy for expatriate workers from other EU countries to move to Spain without applying for a visa or work permit, Zeeck adds. And it could also become the next big hotspot among non-European expatriate workers: The Spanish parliament recently passed the so-called Startups law[/B], which includes the creation of a new type of visa for digital nomads expected to be available by January 2023.
Expatriate workers in Dubai, which ranks second, enjoy a thriving social scene as well as good job prospects and a creative entrepreneurial culture.
Those who come to Mexico City rank it high in terms of settling in and feeling at home, but the city ranks low in terms of environmental, climate and safety measures.
On the other hand, among the bottom three cities are Johannesburg, Frankfurt and Paris. Survey participants described the South African city as unaffordable and unsafe. Germany's Frankfurt and the French capital scored poor in terms of affordable housing.
