A US aircraft, carrying military equipment and ammunition landed in Kiev today, the third cargo of a $200 million security package to support Ukraine, which is preparing for the possibility of a Russian military attack.
"Our partners are increasing the scope of military assistance. And today we are receiving the third aircraft from the US government as part of this assistance," Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov told reporters before the aircraft landed.
The U.S. is Ukraine's strongest supporter in its effort to prevent a new attack by Russia, which has been massing troops near the Ukrainian border. Moscow denies planning an attack.
The US released more than $650 million in security aid to Ukraine last year and more than $2.7 billion in total since 2014, following Russia's annexation of the Crimean peninsula.
