According to the Cyprus Times, the little boy has developed a respiratory infection - pneumonia - in the last few days, so he cannot currently undergo surgery, as he is taking medication.

The child who is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the pediatric surgery clinic "Mother" is being monitored by Dr. George Sarris, as announced by the Ministry of Health, following a consultation.
The Ministry of Health is in constant communication with the clinic in Greece where the boy is being monitored, according to a competent source.
It is recalled that as brought to light by the Cyprus Times the 3-year-old boy although initially was to be air-ambulanced to a Medical Centre in Germany to undergo surgery, however at the last minute the parents were informed that they could not go there because they were not vaccinated.
After the issue became public and the arrangements were immediately made by the Ministry of Health, the child has been in Athens since Saturday, where he is expected to undergo surgery in the next few days and if his health condition allows it.
The parents have finally been vaccinated and are now close to their child in these difficult moments.
