For six hours the 22-year-old Albanian testified to police authorities, who surrendered this morning to the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki for the murder of Alkis Kabanos.

According to GRTimes.gr, the 12th alleged perpetrator of the murderous attack, who had fled to Albania, arrived at the Police Hall at around 8:30 am to give evidence to the police officers in charge of the case.

The 22-year-old is the man who allegedly transported three other accused in his car. Police were looking for him after reports that he was driving a grey Polo car. He will be brought before the 7th regular interrogator in order to apologise and give his version of events on the fatal night.

According to his lawyer, Paris Spiratos, the 20-year-old claims that he had a "peripheral" role in the murderous attack, he did not hold a weapon or hit anyone.

The 22-year-old admits that he was driving the third car involved in the murderous attack against Alkis Kabanos and his company in Harilaou, but he denies any involvement in the fatal incident.

What the 22-year-old's family says

According to the statement issued by the family of the alleged perpetrator, he is not an organized fan and was found by chance at the scene of the murder of Alkis Kabanos, while he claims that he did not even get out of the car (grey POLO) despite the fact that it was carrying three people.

The 22-year-old "declares that he is not an organized fan of any team, he is not a member of any association, he had never participated in any incidents of sports or other forms of violence in the past. His co-defendants, to date, have not given his details because, quite simply, except for one, they do not know him (he does not have them, nor have they met him before)."

According to the family, the arrested man was coincidentally found at the point where the incident started in Old Patron Germanos, while he was asked and uncritically accepted to transport three people to Harilaou, two of whom are unknown to him.

"He did not know that his co-defendants were carrying weapons and that an attack on other people was imminent. He was not involved in the incident in any way. As evidenced by the tracking system (GPS) of his car, during the incident, he was continuously inside it, on the move, 30 meters from the scene of the attack, not even making eye contact. He accepts his share of responsibility and places himself at the mercy of justice," said the family, who added that they "are shocked by the turn of events, express their condolences and sorrow to Alkis' family and their wishes for a speedy recovery for the other children who were injured."

"The ELAS knows and wants and can do its job"

Following the arrest of the 12th person involved, Minister of Citizen Protection Takis Theodoricakos stressed that the ELAS has done its job.

"With the arrest of the twelfth suspect in the tragic event of the murder of 19-year-old Alkis in Thessaloniki, the Greek police has completed its investigation," the minister said, adding: "Everyone knows on the occasion of this really tragic incident that the Greek Police both knows and wants and can do its job."

Mr. Theodoricakos concluded his statement, noting that "now, it is a matter of all together, the State, the State, the sports agents, the fans themselves to put a definitive end to violence and hooliganism inside and outside the stadiums."
