The 12th accused in the murder of Alkis was in court yesterday for about six hours with the experienced police officers who have been assigned to solve the case
The last of the perpetrators of the murder of 19-year-old Alkis arrived at the courts of Thessaloniki.
The 22-year-old surrendered yesterday morning to the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki and is allegedly related to the murder of Alkis Kabanos.
The 12th alleged perpetrator of the murderous attack on the 19-year-old and his gang, testified yesterday for about six hours to the experienced police officers assigned to solve the case.
He was the driver of one of the three cars
He was the man who was driving the other three defendants and was wanted by police after his name was mentioned as the driver of a Polo car. The 22-year-old is expected to be brought - today - before the prosecutor.
It is noted that the 22-year-old admits that he was driving the third car involved in the murderous attack against Alkis Kabanos and his company in Harilaou, but denies any involvement in the fatal incident.
What the 22-year-old's family says
According to the statement issued by the family of the alleged perpetrator, he is not an organized fan and was found by chance at the scene of the murder of Alkis Kabanos, while he claims that he did not even get out of the car despite the fact that it was carrying three people.
The statement of the 22-year-old's family:
"The 22-year-old driver of the grey POLO, who is related to the case of ALKI's murder, presented himself voluntarily, today at 8.30 in the morning, to the Thessaloniki Police.
He declares that he is not an organized fan of any team, he is not a member of any Association, he had never participated in the past in incidents of sports or other forms of violence.
His co-defendants have not given his details to date, because, quite simply, except for one, they do not know him (he does not have them, nor have they met him before).
He was found by chance at the starting point of the incident, in Paleon Patron Germanou.
He was asked and uncritically accepted, in the absence of cars, to transport three people, the two unknown to him, to Harilaou.
He did not know that his co-defendants were carrying weapons and that an attack on other people was imminent.
He was not involved in the incident in any way.
As evidenced by his car's GPS tracking system, during the incident, he was constantly inside the car, on the move, at a distance of 30 meters from the point of attack, without even having eye contact.
He accepts his share of responsibility and places himself at the mercy of justice.
He is shocked by the turn of events, expresses his condolences and sorrow to Alkis' family and wishes a speedy recovery to the other children who were injured."
