Temporary lockout of a nightclub in Larnaca "Bells" to barbershops and other establishments for measures Police checks on the Infectious Diseases Law
In the last 24 hours, the police filed a complaint against 11 citizens and seven establishments for violation of the Ordinances of the Infectious Diseases Law. In addition, on the instructions of the Chief of Police, the operation of a substation in Larnaca was suspended.
The Police continues its intensive controls on a nationwide basis, for the observance of the measures and the implementation of the Ordinances of the Pneumodialysis Law.
Specifically, during the last 24 hours (6 a.m. yesterday, Saturday 12/02/22 - 6 a.m.Today, Sunday 13/02/22), 1,924 checks were carried out nationwide, of which 1,201 were safepass checks, while a total of 11 complaints from citizens and 7 complaints from establishments for violation of the measures were made. In addition, yesterday, on the instructions of the Chief of Police, the Police served a notice banning the operation of a nightclub in Larnaca
As far as citizens are concerned, the majority of complaints concerned the non-use of protective masks.
With regard to the establishments, most of the complaints concerned managers and employees of establishments who were not in possession of a safepass and did not wear a protective mask.
Nicosia district
An extrajudicial notice to pay a fine of €500 euro was issued to the manager of a kiosk in Nicosia, who was working without possessing a safepass.
Limassol district
An extrajudicial notice to pay a fine of €1,000 was issued to the owner of a barber shop, as he was not in possession of a safepass and did not wear a protective mask.
Larnaca District
Yesterday, in Larnaca, a nightclub was found to be in flagrant breach of the terms of the Ordinances of the Purging Law (overcrowded patrons (300 instead of 200), served in the bar, dancing on the dance floor) and under the powers of the Chief of Police, the owner was served with a prohibition notice until Monday, February 14, 2022, when the case is expected to be filed in Court.
An extrajudicial notice to pay a fine of €500 euros was also issued to the owner of a hairdressing salon after an employee of the salon failed to wear a protective mask.
Famagusta district
An extrajudicial notice to pay a fine of €500 euros was issued to the owner of a beer bar, after he allowed a customer to enter his premises without having a safepass in his possession.
Paphos district
In Paphos district a total of three establishments were reported, of which two were filed for Court.
Specifically, a file was filed for Court for an establishment (barbershop) in Paphos for offences relating to breach of closing hours, exceeding the number of customers and failure to keep an appointment book.
Also, a file was formed for Court for a business establishment (café/pop shop) in Paphos, since it was operating without a licence, there were lying customers, the appropriate distances to the tables were not observed and there was inadequate signage.
With regard to a third establishment, an extrajudicial notice to pay a fine of €750 euros was issued to the owner of a supermarket, since the manager and employee of the supermarket did not wear a protective mask and were not in possession of a safepass, did not check customers for a safepass, there was no thermometry and no notices were posted at the entrance.
The Police remind us once again that enforcement is not only the responsibility of the Police and other relevant public services, but is the responsibility of everyone.
