[Cyprus Times] Temperature drop coming Rains and snow at the weekend

Today, initially there will be locally increasing clouds which are expected to bring isolated showers mainly in the western half of the island. Gradually the weather will become partly cloudy and partly mostly cloudy and localised showers are expected. Snow or sleet is expected on the higher peaks of the Troodos. Winds will initially be variable light 3 Beaufort and gradually in the west and north mainly northwest light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be up to a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 17 degrees inland and on the coast and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be partly cloudy and partly cloudy to mostly cloudy. Winds will be mainly northwest to northeast, light to moderate in places, 3 to 4 Beaufort. Later on the east and locally on the northern coast it will blow up to strong 5 Beaufort. The sea will be up to a little rough and later on the east and north up to rough.The temperature will drop to around 3 degrees inland, around 8 on the eastern coast, around 6 on the rest of the coast and around minus 5 in the higher mountains. Locally, in the mountains, frost will form.

On Saturday, the weather will initially be mainly clear, with locally increasing clouds but will gradually become partly cloudy and locally cloudy with isolated showers, mainly in the southern half of the island. The temperature will drop, to be well below the average climatic values.

On Sunday, the weather will initially be mainly clear, with locally increasing clouds but will gradually become partly cloudy and partly cloudy. The temperature will further drop slightly, mainly in the mountains and in the interior, to be well below average.

On Monday, the weather will be partly cloudy and mostly cloudy. The temperature is not expected to change significantly.

Morning update on the road network

Open for all vehicles but slippery due to frost, are the roads leading to Troodos and in particular the roads Platron-Troodos, Karvouna-Troodos and Prodromos-Troodos.



Police recommend that those travelling in the mountainous areas should exercise extreme caution, while vehicle drivers are urged to drive at a safe, low speed and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead.

Also in some areas due to works being carried out, the smooth passage of vehicles is likely to be affected
