The most important task for the EU, if it wants to be constructive and contribute to such a humanitarian issue, is to advise the Greek Cypriot leadership to refrain from disrupting bilateral relations by undermining the issue through the press and to support the Commission of Inquiry on Missing Persons, says a statement by the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar.
A statement from the "presidency" says that the Greek Cypriot leadership continues to make statements inconsistent with goodwill on the issue of the missing persons, which concerns both Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots alike.
As reported in the occupied territories, commenting on statements by Commissioner Fotis Fotiou, who took aim at Turkey and the pseudo-state - as reported - continues to sideline the work of the ICRC and use a humanitarian issue as political propaganda.
"As the TC side, our support for the ICJ is clear and we will continue to contribute, including financially, so that it continues its active work."
It is also claimed that Ersin Tatar, since his election, has taken all necessary measures to ensure that the CMP's work is not interrupted and continues to do so.
It is necessary once again to advise the Greek Cypriot leadership to put an end to the black propaganda through the press and to support the work (of the ICJ) with goodwill and sincerity in order to ensure that these efforts continue in a healthy and effective manner.
Meanwhile, in a message on the 58th anniversary of the "Limassol resistance", Ersin Tatar said that the T/C side aims for a just, lasting and viable solution in Cyprus and called on the E/C side to stop provocative efforts and creating tension, and to respond positively to calls for dialogue.
Tatar reiterated that they will not abandon, in his words, "our state, our sovereignty, the guarantees of the motherland Turkey and the Turkish army", arguing that his proposal for a two-state solution will benefit the island and the region.
