Tatar spoke in London about equal rights for Turkish Cypriots and discrimination against Turkish Cypriots
It is an indisputable fact that Turkish Cypriots have equal rights with Greek Cypriots in Cyprus, Ersin Tatar says in a letter to the T/C organisations in London about discrimination - as he says - they face against the Greek Cypriots there.
"I would like to express my deepest greetings and appreciation to all the associations and people who support the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations as part of their efforts to resist the discrimination imposed on us by the Waltham Forest Council in London," reads the written statement by Mr. Tatar read out - according to a statement from the "presidency" at a T/C protest event at Waltham Forest Town Hall.
"By denying our flag, identity and culture, it is not possible to achieve a sustainable reconciliation on the ground of equality where both sides can live together with their differences," he adds, expressing sadness because the flag of the pseudo-state that was raised in an area of London on 15 November last year (the anniversary of the pseudo-state) was taken down by local authorities. "I hope this mistake will be corrected and that our voice will be heard by the parties concerned," he said.
As reported from the occupied territories, the Council of Turkish Cypriot Associations and the Turkish Cypriots of Britain held a second protest event in front of Waltham Forest Town Hall last night targeting Mayor Grace Williams for raising the pseudo-state flag in front of the Town Hall on November 15, 2021, to celebrate the anniversary of the illegal declaration of the pseudo-state, the Mayor instructed them to take it down.
