Tatar meeting on earthquakes, cracks in "presidency" building What the T/C media report
T/C leader Ersin Tatar had a meeting with the "earthquake committee" set up at the "presidency" this morning after the strong tremor off Paphos. It should be noted that this is the first time the existence of such a "committee" has been mentioned.
As reported from the occupied territories, a statement from the "presidency" said that after the meeting, "presidency" staff showed cracks in the walls of the building where the "press and public relations office" (PS: 'an old building opposite the "presidency") is located after the earthquake, and it was reported that although the building is under constant repair, new problems keep arising.
The head of the 'office', Serkan Ilsevetn, stated that the building in question is dangerous for the safety of the employees and their transfer to other offices will be evaluated immediately.
The head of the "earthquake committee" is Professor Jiavit Atalar.
Ersin Tatar, stressing that experts warned that anything can happen at any time, noted that based on local measurements, the chambers of architects and engineers issue relevant permits for buildings and sub-structures and called for strict adherence to anti-seismic regulations.
He thanked the Turkish officials and Turkish media for their interest, who have been calling since morning to find out the situation in the occupied territories.
