A Tae Kwon Do teacher was sentenced to 4 years in prison for seducing his underage student.
The Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki, where the case was heard in the second instance, suspended the sentence for 3 years, on the conditions that he will be monitored by a social worker and will not approach the victim.
The case was reported in 2013, when the minor was then 9 years old. The 67-year-old (now) defendant apologised that his actions were misunderstood by the sufferer and that he had no malicious intent. The Court, after finding him guilty, granted him two mitigating factors (life expectancy and subsequent good behaviour).
He was originally sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment and was released (conditionally) pending trial in the Court of Appeal.
