According to Pafos Assistant Police Director Michael Ioannou, on Saturday at 10:30, while a constable was on duty at the Paphos Central Police Station detention facilities and escorted outside the men's ward a detainee to be transferred to Paphos General Hospital, another detainee, aged 36, who is a suspect in burglary and theft cases, allegedly went to the door of the detention centre and allegedly attacked him and pushed him with his hands, causing abrasions on both his hands .
The reason for the attack, according to police, is that the 36-year-old wanted to be taken to the hospital first and then the other prisoner.
The same day he was arrested for the offences he committed, namely assaulting a police officer, common assault and assault causing actual bodily harm.
The policeman was taken to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital where he was examined by the doctor on duty, according to whom he had abrasions on both his hands.
Subsequently, after receiving first aid he was discharged.
