- The text of the conclusions[/B][/QUOTE]

Leaders of the 27 European Union member states agreed on Thursday to impose sanctions against Russia in the financial sector, as well as those in energy and transport, while controls on exports to the Russian state will also be imposed, according to a European Council statement.

Other Russian citizens and officials will be added to the Union's blacklist following the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.

"The European Council today agrees to the imposition of further restrictive measures which will have huge and significant consequences for Russia following its action," the statement said.

"These sanctions concern the financial sector, as well as those in energy and transport, dual-use goods, but also controls on exports and export financing, visa policy and new criteria for blacklisting Russian citizens", it is also noted.

Mitsotakis' proposal on the energy crisis accepted

It is noted that the reference to the conclusions (paragraph 10) to the need to take emergency measures also in the energy sector - so that, as Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said, to support member states against possible sharp increases in energy prices - was included following a proposal and actions by the Greek side.
