Spider-Man dominates the US box-office The first film in the Covid era to gross more than $1 billion at the global box-office

The film Spider-Man: No Way Home, the latest in the spider-man adventures, remains at the top of the North American box office by collecting $52.7 million over the weekend, according to preliminary figures released by Exhibitor Relations, a company specializing in the big-screen industry.

The film, Covid's first to gross more than $1 billion at the global box-office since its release, offered a respite to a film industry struggling to recover from the pandemic's blow. The superhero is played by British actor Tom Holland.

The previous films, in which the red and blue costume was worn by Toby Maguire followed by Andrew Garfield, had also taken the box-office by storm.

Just as families are starting to return to the cinemas, the animated film Sing! 2 is in second place with a $19.6 million take between Friday and Saturday. Third in the rankings is The King's Man: The Beginning is far behind, with just $4.5 million in receipts.
