Embargo lifted for humanitarian flight to Moscow

Despite the issuance of a NOTAM to close Cypriot airspace to Russian aircraft which is currently in force, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued instructions to the Civil Aviation, to give permission for one Aeroflot flight to Moscow, in order to return home Russians and Belarusians in Cyprus who were caught in the middle of the embargo imposed.

Around 200 people are expected to board the "Aeroflot" flight tomorrow at noon, after the exception was granted to lift the ban on the Nicosia FIR.

In fact, as the Russian Embassy informs, arrangements for the first repatriation flight from the territory of the Republic of Cyprus have been completed, while instructions are being given to passengers, noting that the number of tickets was limited.

According to the same update, "efforts are being made to plan a second repatriation flight in the near future."

The story was first broadcast on Alpha's main news bulletin.
