For the 12th year, 20 Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot entrepreneurs will receive a total of €200,000 for their joint business activity. The awards will be presented in April 2022.
Sir Stelios Hadjiyannou, Founder and Owner of the easy family of brands (www.easyHistory.info) and Founder and Chairman of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation (https:/steliosfoundation.com.cy/) is offering a cash prize of €20,000 per bi-communal team - €10,000 to each person in the bi-communal team. Each team should consist of one Greek Cypriot and one Turkish Cypriot entrepreneur, who can prove with evidence that their joint business activity brings economic benefits to the whole island. The ten bi-communal teams that will be awarded in April 2022 will receive €20,000 each, with the total amount of the awards amounting to €200,000.
The "Stelios Bi-Communal Awards 2022" is the 12th edition in Cyprus and it is worth noting that the institution was first held in 2009. In 2020 and 2021, although the awards were cancelled due to the pandemic, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation decided to make donations to the health professionals of hospitals all over the island, as a minimal sign of gratitude for the battle they are fighting every day from the front line to tackle COVID-19.
It is important to note that from 2009 to date, the total value of the Bicommunal Cooperation Awards, including this year's €200,000, amounts to €3,990,000.
Given the peculiar circumstances brought about by the pandemic, the application process will be conducted online via zoom, in order to keep travel and face-to-face meetings to a minimum. Even if the restrictions are lifted, the Award Ceremony will take place online on Thursday 28 April 2022, with Sir Stelios Hadjiyannou congratulating the winners via zoom.
The Stelios Awards 2022, will focus exclusively on encouraging business activities between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots and for this reason, this year, no applications will be accepted from groups that have any other
form of cooperation. This year's awards, which aim to support business cooperation between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, also bring back the original idea of the bi-communal awards that started in 2009.
Sir Stelios Hadziioannou, referring to the awards, stressed that: "I firmly believe that the entrepreneurs of the two communities are progressive and innovative people who manage to overcome existing difficulties and continue to work together for the benefit of their joint business activities. So this year, we are going back to our roots, inviting only entrepreneurs to apply and claim the prize of €10,000 each.
After all, all these entrepreneurs are the ones who, through their joint ventures, contribute to the consolidation of lasting peace on the island."
